Mon rituel beauté et détente du soir pour l'été

My evening beauty and relaxation ritual for summer

After a busy day, when the light slowly fades and the house returns to its calm, comes one of my favorite moments: the evening ritual. The one where we close the door on stress, agitation, screens... to refocus, breathe, and take care of ourselves. In summer, this ritual takes on a very special flavor. The heat softens gestures, the scents are more present, the senses awaken in a different way. It's a soothing interlude, made up of small, simple gestures, gentle and natural care, and a desire for harmony.

In this article, I share with you my evening beauty and well-being ritual, a gentle and sensory routine, designed to soothe my body, my mind, my skin... and my soul. All with natural products, often artisanal, sometimes homemade, sometimes available in my shop, but always carefully chosen. Feel free to draw ideas to create your own evening bubble!

1. Set the mood: soft lighting, screens off, calm established

In the evening, as soon as the sunlight begins to fade, I try to slow down and create a gentle atmosphere in my home. It may seem like a simple step, but it makes all the difference! In the summer, the days are often very busy: we move more, we go for more walks, more outings, it's warm, we see people, we enjoy the good weather... I'm an introverted and shy person by nature, so in the evening, I need to find a quieter, more intimate space to recharge my batteries.
I start by turning off screens, or at least stepping away from them for a while. I dim the lights, sometimes light a small scented candle (the lavender and white musk one is my current favorite and ideal for the evening), or I spray a little homemade mist to create a calming atmosphere. You can also check out my recent article entitled DIY Refreshing and Soothing Mist for Summer for a quick and easy recipe idea to try! This little ritual marks a very gentle transition between the hustle and bustle of the day and the calm of the evening.

Of course, I don't do all this every night. This ritual is more of a personal compass: I draw from it what feels good and what I want at the time. Some nights, I simply open the windows to let in a little fresh air and silence, other nights, I take enormous pleasure in creating a whole atmosphere.

If you want to do the same, there's no need to overdo it or buy anything. Sometimes it's enough to dim the lights (a side lamp, a soft garland, etc.), put on some soothing music, or even just sit for a few minutes in peace and quiet, without distractions. In the summer, it's often natural sounds like insects, the wind, or the sounds of the garden that are enough to soothe my mind and calm my stress. Give yourself this decompression chamber, even for five minutes: it really has the power to transform my evening.

2. Reconnect with yourself through sensory gestures

When I feel like I need to come back down even more, I like to return to simple, sensory gestures. Summer is a season full of life, but also full of stimulation: heat, movement, noises... In the evening, I need to reconnect with myself, with my body, with my breath. Nothing sophisticated: just something to bring me back to the present moment.

I often start with a gentle facial cleansing. I use a natural solid cleanser, sometimes followed by a slightly damp reusable cotton pad to refresh the skin. I do this slowly, almost like a massage, with my eyes consciously closed. It's a moment of connection with myself, a gesture of care and presence. Then, I apply a toner to my face, a serum, a cream to my face, then to my hands or a little oil to my legs or hair, depending on what I have on hand and what I feel like.

I also sometimes brew an Ayurvedic herbal tea, especially the one I offer in the shop (Nidra or Kozak) because it is sweet, fragrant, comforting without being heavy. I like to drink it sitting quietly, sometimes with a notebook in which I jot down a thought of the day, a book, or a manhwa that I love to read.

I don't do all this every night, of course. These are little rituals that I pick and choose as I feel like it. One night, it might be an infusion; another, just a little hand cream or a cool shower with scented soap; another, a vegetable oil all over my body and a glass of iced tea! What I remember is that each gesture is an invitation to slow down and take care of myself gently and by listening to my body.

And you? Perhaps for you, it will be a few drops of essential oils on your pillow, a temple massage, or simply the pleasure of soaping yourself with a scent you love! It's these small gestures, which you choose with intention, that will transform the mundane into a ritual.

3. Take care of your skin in summer

In the evening, when calm returns, I like to give my skin a little time. Not with a view to performance or perfection, but with a sensory, attentive, and respectful approach. I've already described above some of the products I use on my skin when the mood strikes, but I wanted to expand on this part. Taking care of my skin is a way to reconnect with myself, to return to my body after a busy day. I often start with a gentle cleansing with a soap adapted to my skin, sometimes enriched with vegetable oils or clays when I feel the need to regulate my sebum production. The warm water, the foam that glides over my skin, the scents I love... all this transforms a simple gesture into a true moment of pleasure. This is also why, in my shop, I took care to classify the soaps by skin type: so that everyone can find the one that suits them best, without having to search for long! Some evenings, I go further. I use my cream to massage my face, focusing on the temples, cheekbones, or jawline. It's a soothing gesture that relaxes features and releases invisible tension. I also have the impression (perhaps it's just an impression!) that I'm improving my circulation and stimulating my skin's elasticity. And then there's hand and foot care, often forgotten, even though they carry and serve us all day long! I use a vegetable oil, usually sweet almond oil, to massage my feet, and the comfort is almost instantaneous. I don't do all this every night, of course! But when I do, even briefly, I feel that my skin is more supple and my mind rested. Summer is even more pleasant: the skin breathes better, the textures are lighter, and floral or herbaceous scents take on a whole new dimension. If you want to transform your routine into a moment of pleasure, I encourage you to choose simple, natural products that are pleasant to the touch and smell, and to apply them slowly, mindfully!

4. Slow down and prepare for sleep gently

When the days are long, bright, and sometimes a little too full, I try not to slide straight from the hustle and bustle of the day to sleep. I need a transition. So, I've slowly created an evening routine that allows me to slow down and sleep better. There are nights when I settle into my favorite corner with a light book. Sometimes I also like to light a scented candle, especially one I make myself, because why not? I place it near me, turn off any bright lights, and let the mood transform. This little ritual helps me create a peaceful space where I feel safe and ready to let go. And of course, there are nights when I keep it very simple: I take a lukewarm or cool shower, soap my skin with a gentle scent, moisturize my body a little, and slip into bed with my hair still a little damp, the windows open to the warm night air. These moments are nothing extraordinary, but they allow me to anchor myself in the present moment with ease. Again, I don't do all of this every night. It's not a rigid routine, but rather a pocket from which I draw as needed. One evening when I'm feeling a bit agitated, I prefer an infusion and a few breaths to calm myself. Another evening, I light a candle and simply stay there, without doing anything special. If you too feel this need to slow down, to refocus, then I invite you to create a space that you reserve for this only. Perhaps a dim light, a scent that you like, or a symbolic gesture that you repeat (like massaging your hands or breathing deeply three times). It's these small, regular gestures that install a feeling of inner peace.

Taking care of yourself in the evening is much more than a matter of routine or beauty. It's a way to reconnect with yourself, to gently release what the day has left behind, and to enter the night with more peace. For me, these simple gestures have become landmarks. Sometimes very short, sometimes more enveloping, they allow me to reconnect with what is essential: slowness, sensations, inner calm.

I hope these little snippets of my evening ritual can inspire you to create your own, at your own pace, according to your desires. There is no right or wrong way to do things, only gestures chosen with gentleness and intention. Let yourself be guided by what feels good to you.

And you, what are the gestures that calm your summer evenings?
